Les Baroudeurs Hostel is ideally located just a few minutes by car from downtown Saint-Pierre and the lively, typical Terre-Sainte district (less than 5 min by car / 20 minutes on foot).

We’re less than 10 minutes from the little-used Grand Bois lagoon and the famous Grande Anse beach, where you can relax in a hammock in the shade of the coconut palms.

 

Marché forain de Saint-Pierre

A colorful market with numerous stalls selling local produce, spices, vegetables, fruit, fish and more.

It takes place every Saturday morning.

Distance: approx. 5 km – 10 min.

Lagon de Grand Bois

A little-known white sand beach, wild and quiet. Swimming is limited, but the coral reef makes for a refreshing swim.

Distance: approx. 6 km – 12 min.

Plage de Grande Anse

A must-see spot on Reunion Island, this superb coconut-fringed bay offers a popular white sand beach. It’s a great place to stroll, picnic and swim in the natural pool.

Distance: approx. 10 km – 15 min.

Piton de la fournaise

The most visited volcano on Reunion Island, Piton de la Fournaise is one of the most active volcanoes in the world, offering an extraordinary spectacle with its lunar landscapes and regular eruptions.

Distance: approx. 50km – 1h30

Lever de soleil au Maïdo

Contemplate the sunrise over the Maïdo peak perched at 2200m altitude. It’s a magical moment that’s a must when you visit Réunion Island.

The belvedere offers a breathtaking view of the cirque de Mafate. You’ll also see the silhouettes of Piton des Neiges, Gros Morne and Piton de la Fournaise.

Le Parc des Palmiers

Located in Le Tampon, the Parc des Palmiers is a pleasant stroll in the cool heights of Reunion Island.

An original park devoted exclusively to the world’s palm trees, its ambition is to become the world’s largest palm grove.

Distance: approx. 14 km – 30 min.

Randonnée à Grand Bassin

10km round trip hike to discover « the little Mafate ». A classic among Réunion Island hikes, this trail takes visitors back in time, taking them on a journey out of the past, to discover many fantastic landscapes and endemic bird species. The highlight is the Voile de la mariée waterfall.

Distance: approx. 30 km – 1 hour

Cascade Langevin

Also known as the Cascade de Grand Galet, this is the best-known and most famous waterfall on Reunion Island. Don’t miss the « Trou noir » waterfall, located on the road leading to Grand Galet (a little further down), and the « Cascade Jacqueline », which depends on the same river but at the mouth of the ocean.

Distance: approx. 30km – 50 min.

Le lagon de l'Hermitage

L’Hermitage beach (or its neighbor Saline-les-bains), with its clear warm waters, coral reefs and multicolored aquarium, is a veritable paradise for safe swimming.

Distance: approx. 50km – 40min
